Under the New Individual Economy program launched by the Ministry of Finance, Alexandre Guyot, a 32-year old consultant is the first person to sell himself in stock bonds on the market as a "human company".
Thanks to the help of his mentor, Boyden, his entrance into the market is a resounding success: prices on guyot shares tripled on the first day. He is now worth 12 million euros. On the downside, he now only owns 75% of himsekf.
At first Alexandre returns to his daily routine but soon discovers that radical changes have taken place. Laurence Kellerman, one of his colleagues, an ambitious workaholic who also put herself up for bid on the market, is now his superior. Desperate for affection and sex, she has bought out Alexandre against his will and imposes a "fusion" of their two human companies. A couple has now formed : Kellerman-Guyot Co.
Alexandre finds himself a prisoner of a life he did not choose. As managing director of their couple, Laurence orders the creation of a subsidiary : she wants his child. A terrifying perspective for Alexandre but one in which he will ultimately regain his freedom and dignity.

Bernard Mourad, age 30, is an international commercial banker for a well-known American institution based in Paris and London. He has earned degrees at Sciences-Po and H.E.C. Les Actifs corporels is his first novel.
