La note noire - Prix du premier roman du festival de Beaune 2009
Avec ce premier roman au suspense haletant, Costantini nous offre, sur fond de jazz, un bel hommage aux films noirs et à la littérature américaine.
THE BLACK NOTE
Thel, a disheartened New York policeman is confronted with a strange crime: a young man found with his throat slit and the American flag drawn on his forehead. The FBI and CIA are inclined to believe there is an Islamic threat behind the murder and take over the investigation. When another murder victim is found with a slit throat in Chicago, this time with the British flag as signature, Thel decides obstinately to continue to investigate on his own.
From Nice to Los Angeles and San Francisco, Thel is forced to conclude that he is a pawn in the murderer’s machiavelic plan, a plan that forces Thel to dredge up some memories he would prefer to forget.
A first novel of breathtaking suspense against a background of jazz that is also a wonderful homage to noire movies and American literature.
